Gordon Mote in Concert

Totally blind from birth, Mote's childhood in rural Alabama was not quite the same as other children his age. Since 2006, he has served as pianist for the popular Gaither Homecoming Tour, with legendary songwriters Bill & Gloria Gaither and Gaither's Grammy Award winning Gaither Vocal Band, and has performed throughout the world with the Tour. Shiver in the River Tagged Fish Tournament

Where: Cherokee Indian Reservation

$11 entry fee and $10,000 in tagged fish in the rivers on the Cherokee Reservation (excluding the 2.2 miles of catch and release waters) Hundreds of specially tagged fish will be stocked in the Cherokee public fishing waters. When a tagged fish is caught it can be redeemed for cash prizes ranging from $20 to $500 based on the color of the tag. Redemption location and times to be announced. Open to all ages and for all legal fishing methods. Registration necessary to redeem cash prize. More info

Alice's Mad Tea Party

Jamey Johnson in Concert

When word got out that acclaimed Nashville artist Jamey Johnson was recording a tribute album to beloved songwriter Hank Cochran, musical superstars clamored to participate. “When we were talking about who to call, people just kind of presented themselves,” Johnson says. “I think the word got out after awhile, and we were getting phone calls from people wanting to do it. There weren’t a whole lot of arms that needed twisting.” More info

Alice In Wonderland: The Musical

Fall down the rabbit hole into Wonderland with Alice to meet the craziest bunch of characters ever assembled in one story. From the White Rabbit to the Mad Hatter to the evil Queen of Hearts and the Tweedle Twins, they are all there and live on stage singing and dancing their way off the pages of Lewis Carol's classic book. Created especially for our younger audiences, Alice in Wonderland will have everyone, no matter what your age may be, grinning with glee like a Cheshire Cat. Frog Level Philharmonic Dixieland Jazz Band

The Enneagram Triads - Lecture Series

This is the final class of the three part lecture series. Join Andrea Ford as she takes us for an in-depth journey into the inner workings of the three intelligence centers of the Enneagram. The Instinctual Center, The Feeling Center and The Thinking Center. In each 2 hour class, Andrea will delve deeply into one of three intelligence centers.  The cost is $15 for the class.

NC 2013 Classic Hikes of the Smokies Series

Come on out to an introduction to hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park presented by hiking guide and author Danny Bernstein who will share her experiences hiking in the Smokies and review reading a Smokies trail map, including information about entrances (in addition to Hwy 441) and facilities. There will also be a day-hike equipment demonstration by Gracia Slater, who has hiked all the trails in the Smokies - without any camping! Stick around for an update on the Smokies Trails Forever program too.

*Attendies - please bring a map of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, National Geographic whole park version is great. Friends will also have maps on hand.

Carolina Chocolate Drops in Concert

From their beginning, the Carolina Chocolate Drops have believed the old-time, fiddle and banjo-based music they've so scrupulously researched and passionately performed could be a living, breathing, ever-evolving sound. Dipping into styles of Southern black music from the 1920s and '30s, string-band music, jug-band music, fife and drum, and early jazz, they make each performance a memorable one, full of energy-filled flatfoot dancing, jug playing, singing and shouting. An excellent opportunity to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of Danny Bernstein, our hiking guide for the 2013 NC Classic Hikes of the Smokies. Hear Danny's trail tales, and review reading a Smokies trail map. Learn about entrances (in addition to Highway 441) and facilities. 900 Miler Gracia Slater ( that means she's hiked all of the trails in the Smokies) will present an equipment demo. Then stay with us for an update on the Smokies Trails Forever program.
