Oconaluftee Indian Village

Where: Oconaluftee Indian Village

Mon-Sat; closed Sundays. As you step into the Oconaluftee Indian Village, you’re transported back to witness the challenges of Cherokee life at a time of rapid cultural change. Tour guides help you explore the historic events and figures of the 1760's. Visitors can interact with villagers as they  participate in their daily activities. The Village also hosts live reenactments, interactive demonstrations, and Hands-On Cherokee Pottery for Kids classes. More info

Hike the Smokies: Caldwell Fork

Friends of the Smokies guided hikes in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park feature interpretation of the featured trail, history, and park projects supported by Friends of the Smokies.
The Caldwell Fork hike is 9.4 miles with a moderate 1,650 ascent and features wildflowers and the historic Cataloochee Valley with the highlight of the hike being the elk bugle corps.

Catamount Singers Performance

Where: Marianna Black Library, Bryson City

Western Carolina University's Catamount Singers present "Livin' a Dream," a free performance. The show consists mostly of energetic modern pop tunes, jazz standards, and classic rock, all complete with impressive choreography. It will feature each of the singers, along with brief narrations about the School of Music and the arts at WCU. The library is one block south of the intersection of Main and Rector Streets.

Swain County Heritage Festival

Friday night entertainment (6-9 pm) is loaded with local talent featuring an emphasis on old-time gospel. Saturday entertainment (10 am - 7 pm), features classic country, bluegrass, and clogging.
