First Thursday concert series featuring Nick Chandler & Delivered. Nick was a member of Asheville Grass and a founding member of the bluegrass gospel band Silvercreek. Other members include Seth Rhinehart and Lucas and Nick Dephaunais. The concert will last 1 hour and will be followed by an open jam session. Bring an instrument and join in. More info

Peanuts the Easter Beagle Express Train Event

The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad welcomes back The PEANUTS™ Easter Beagle Express! Trains  travel along the Tuckasegee River into the quaint town of Dillsboro for the 1 ½ hour layover.

Knobscorcher Mountain Bike Race

This annual mountain bike race is a favorite of racers throughout the Southeast.  Held on the trails at the Tsali Recreation Area in Western North Carolina, some of the most famous trails in the Eastern US, this two day race event is the third of the South Eastern Regional Championships series and features a cross country race held on Sunday. National Junior Ranger Day

Where: Oconaluftee Visitor Center, Cherokee

Children and their families can join in a variety of free, hands-on activities including ranger-guided walks, historic toy making, talking to a real wildland firefighter, making dinner bells at a blacksmith shop, and visiting touch tables with animal skins, skulls, and scat. Information about specific programs is available at each visitor center.

Children can earn their free Junior Ranger patch by completing three specially planned activities. A Junior Ranger booklet is also available for those who would like to explore the park in more depth. The Junior Ranger booklets, produced in cooperation with Great Smoky Mountains Association, can be purchased for $2.50 each at park visitor centers. The booklets are designed to serve a variety of age targeted groups from 5-12.

Chocolate Cook-Off

Cooks of all things chocolate will square off at the 8th annual Chocolate Cook-Off from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Swain County Chamber of Commerce, 210 Main Street in Bryson City.

The Friends of the Marianna Black Library will host this tasty event to help raise money for the library. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for children ages 6 to 16 and Friend’s Members.
