The train will travel along the Tuckasegee River into the quaint town of Dillsboro North Carolina for the 1 ½ hour layover. Passengers will join Snoopy, Lucy, Charlie Brown and our Easter Bunnies for old fashioned Easter fun! Festivities include an on-going Easter egg hunt, crafts, coloring sheets, temporary tattoos, and snacks with Snoopy and more. Smoky Mountain Brass Quintet

Jeff Foxworthy: Comedy Benefit for Africa

Jeff's heart is as big as his talent. Jeff has traveled to Kenya with Compassion International where he and his family sponsor several children through Compassion's ministry. They have also joined with Compassion to build an orphanage in a Nairobi slum. Compassion aims to reduce waterborne diseases, which kill more young children than AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined. More info

Community Music Jam

Open to all ages and skill levels, the Community Jam is a great opportunity to meet other musicians or just to hear some awesome music. Organized by Larry Barnett of Grandpa's Music located on Depot Street, Bryson City, the Jam is a favorite meeting place for local musicians who use this opportunity to practice material they might already know or to learn new songs or even instruments.

Bill Pinckney's Original Drifters & The Crystals

In 1988 the Rock Hall inducted originals Bill Pinkney, Clyde McPhatter, and Gerhart Thrasher, along with subsequent members Ben E. King, Charlie Thomas, Rudy Lewis, and Johnny Moore - the seven significant contributors to The Drifters' legacy.

The Crystals' first recording, "There's No Other (Like My Baby)" was also their first hit which catapulted them straight to successful recordings with five more Top Ten records.

NC Science Festival Event on Nantahala River

Where: Nantahala Outdoor Center

Using the Nantahala 2013 Wave as the example, engineers will discuss the science of water hydraulics and in-stream construction, which allows alteration of the shape of a river-bed in order to create or enhance river features for various uses. The event is part of the North Carolina Science Festival, a multi-day celebration showcasing science and technology through events across the state.

You can also see the product of these engineering efforts in action since the Nantahala 2013 Wave feature will be utilized during this year's Freestyle Shootout Competition, April 20-22.

8th Annual Nantahala Open

The Nantahala Open has gained the reputation as a fun competition open to all boaters no matter the experience or ability and consisting of categories for every skill level - and the prizes that go along with them!

The event itself takes place at Nantahala Falls on the Nantahala River from 10am-3pm. Team Wave Sports and Endless River Adventures staff will be at the staging area above the falls; simply stop by and confirm that you want to participate-it's as easy as that!

Following the day's events, Wave Sports and Endless River Adventures invite everyone to an Open House After Party with music and beverages and a screening of the day's footage at Endless River Adventures. During the screening prizes will be awarded to category winners.

8th Annual Nantahala Open

Michael Skinner, Executive Director of the Balsam Mountain Trust, will conduct a free hour long Birds of Prey program beginning at 1pm. The program will provide visitors with an up-close glimpse of some of the planet's most recognized and revered wild animals such as the tiny eastern screech owl and the northern bald eagle.

The Oconaluftee Multipurpose Room is adjacent to the Oconaluftee Visitor's Center on Hwy 441N, two miles north of Cherokee, North Carolina.

Cherokee Summer Kickoff Fishing Tournament
