Dr. Ralph Stanley and his Clinch Mountain Boys

After 55 years in the business, Dr. Ralph Stanley is still one of the best banjo pickers and tenor singers in bluegrass music today. As a recording artist, he has performed on more than 170 albums, tapes, and CDs, performing many songs written by himself and with his brother, the late Carter Stanley. Ralph has played throughout the United States and in many countries around the world, including several tours of Japan. In addition to the many honors Ralph has received as a bluegrass musician, he also holds membership in the Grand Ole Opry.

Music in the Mountains Free Evening Concert Series

Local musician Larry Barnett is a moving force in the Bryson City scene as owner of Grandpa's Music and the organizer of the local music jams that take place every other Thursday at the library, not to mention the many bands he plays in, including this week's featured artist Larry Barnett & Friends.

Music in the Mountains Free Evening Concert Series is held every Saturday evening beginning June 2 and ending October 27. Sponsored by the Swain County Chamber of Commerce and the Swain County Tourism Development Authority, the goal is to provide a fun, family friendly atmosphere for both locals and visitors and to promote the local talent and musicians of Bryson City, Swain County, and the Great Smoky Mountains.
