  • Appalachian Rivers Aquarium

    The aquarium features native fish and amphibian species found in our Appalachian region. Highlights include two hellbender salamanders and a mountain stream with various trout species. A variety of fish including small and large mouth bass, blue gill, catfish and more, along with a terrarium of amphibians make this experience both educational and fun for all ages. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. Free admission, free parking, restrooms, fishing pier and Tuckasegee River access. Days open vary with the seasons. Hours open are 10 am - 4 pm.   • P.A.W.S. (Placing Animals Within Society)

    We are a small, private, non-profit, no-kill shelter dedicated to helping stray, abandoned and neglected dogs and cats in Swain County. As the only animal shelter in Swain County, we are unique because every animal gets one on one attention everyday and are not confined in cages! We are not subsidized by the county and rely solely on donations and income from our P.A.W.S. Thrift Shop to keep our furry friends happy, healthy and ready to go to their new home. Call for directions and come visit us Monday - Wednesday, Friday & Saturday 10:30am – 5pm. And don't forget to stop by our P.A.W.S. Thrift Shop at 110 Bryson Walk, open Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 4pm!
  • Honeymoon Creek Weddings

    Since 1999, we have been providing memorable vacations and hosting events in the Great Smokies. In 2019 we updated and expanded, adding several unique rentals including tiny homes, honeymoon cabins, a caboose camper, and more. In 2024, we decided to expand again and bring one of the most unique wedding venues to Bryson City, NC. We include lodging with every package option for our weddings, with anywhere from 2-18 possible rentals, 14 of which are within walking distance to the ceremony.   • Folkestone Inn B&B

    We are a full-service fitness center with 24/7 access for our members. Daily and weekly passes are available during desk hours for visitors. We are a certified Silver Sneakers, Silver & Fit, Fit On, and Renew Active facility. We have a variety of cardio and weight machines along with a free weight room. Our locker rooms have showers and dry saunas with towels provided.  Our front desk hours are Monday through Thursday 9am-7pm, Friday 9am-4pm, and Saturday 9am-12pm.     Southwestern Community College Heritage Arts focuses on classes for all skill levels in pottery, ceramics, printmaking, basketry and weaving for those over 16 years of age. In the summer, those 16 and under may take classes such as woodcarving, printmaking, primitive cooking, primitive toys and games, and block printing. Visiting the area or feeling spontaneous? Book one of our "on-demand" 1 & 2-hour classes in pottery, printing, sketching, or printing by calling the school.

    Located on Panther Creek, 1-1/2 miles off NC 28, between Bryson City and Fontana Dam. Open March 1st to December 1st. All sites have full hookups for electric, water and sewer. Hot showers and clean restrooms available for all campers. Volleyball court, horseshoe pit, pavilion with full kitchen and coin laundry. Outdoor trout farm with free pole, bait and cleaning and trout is only $6.00 per pound!
