South Eastern Regional Championship Mountain Bike Race

Where: Tsali Recreation Area

This annual mountain bike race is a favorite of racers throughout the Southeast.  Held on the trails at the Tsali Recreation Area in Western North Carolina, some of the most famous trails in the Eastern US, this event has classes for all ages and levels with no prequalifying. Thousands of dollars in cas and prizes, series awards banquet. Saturday individual time trial on Mouse loop at 3 pm. Sunday Cross Country race on right and left loops. Thru-hikers and casual adventurers gather to celebrate the 2,181+ mile-long Appalachian Trail and support the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. Join us for hiker-themed games, movies, lectures and prizes. And for anyone having trouble with their gear, check out the free repair area. More info

Friends of the Smokies Classic Hike Series: Porters Creek

Join Friends of the Smokies for monthly guided hikes in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park featuring interpretation and leadership by author and hiking expert Danny Bernstein. Each hike highlights an achievement or cause that Friends of the Smokies has supported in the Park.
This month's hike is Porters Creek; a 7.2 mile (round trip) trail of 1,400 ascent and moderate difficulty. Porters Creek features profuse wildflowers, a cabin, and cemetery. The theme of the hike is supporting bear management.

Celebrate spring in the Smoky Mountains with a free, family-friendly event in the Nantahala Gorge. Don't miss the Hometown Throwdown, a community freestyle event hosted by World Kayak, vendor fair and gear demos at NOC's Outfitter's Store, live music, and family-friendly activities.

Smoky Mountain Relay

Participants of this epic overnight relay race 212.5 miles along trails and country roads from Brevard, NC to finish here at Nantahala Outdoor Center. Hailed as the most challenging race in the southeast, runners enjoy stunning views from the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Mountain to Sea trail. More info

12th Annual Wave Sport Nantahala Open

Brought to you by Team Wave Sport and Endless River Adventures, the Nantahala Open has gained the reputation of a fun competition; open to all boaters no matter the experience or ability, and consisting of categories for every skill level. Just stop by the staging area above Nantahala Falls and register. And don't forget the open house after party with music, beverages, and a screening of the day's footage.
