Where: Oconaluftee Indian Village

Mon-Sat; closed Sundays. As you step into the Oconaluftee Indian Village, you’re transported back to witness the challenges of Cherokee life at a time of rapid cultural change. Tour guides help you explore the historic events and figures of the 1760's. Visitors can interact with villagers as they  participate in their daily activities. The Village also hosts live reenactments, interactive demonstrations, and Hands-On Cherokee Pottery for Kids classes. More info

Unto These Hills Outdoor Drama

This acclaimed outdoor drama traces the Cherokee people through the eons, through the zenith of their power, through the heartbreak of the Trail of Tears, finally ending, appropriately, in the present day, where the Cherokee people, much like their newly re-scripted drama, continue to rewrite their place in the world ...a place based on traditional Cherokee values and modern sensibilities.  Preshow at 7:30 pm. Tunes on the Tuck Free Concert - Grandpa's Music

Enjoy this free concert on the banks of the Tuckasegee River. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on the grass in front of the outdoor stage. Local musician "Grandpa" Larry Barnett is a moving force in the Bryson City scene as the organizer of the local music jams that take place every other Thursday at the library, not to mention the many bands he plays in.

2017 Cycle NC Mountain Ride

Where: Bryson City and surrounding area

2017 Cycle NC Mountain Ride

400-plus riders from numerous states will be in Bryson City for the Saturday-Sunday event, which includes a number of loop rides, ranging in length from 15 to 75 miles. Friday, August 4 includes check-in, local activities and a kick-off party. The routes are good for road bikes as well as most tandems, trikes and hybrids and are suitable for intermediate to experienced cyclists. Some routes include gravel grinder sections. Photo Competition Reception
